Khaldoon Tabaza is Chairman and
Managing Director of Riyada Ventures. Starting his career as an
entrepreneur, and subsequently as an investment professional, he has
successfully established, managed and invested in many high-profile
technology, communication and media ventures, and co-founded and managed
one direct investment fund and one corporate venture operation. He was recently selected as a Young
Global Leader by the Young Global Leaders Forum of the World Economic
Forum.
Khaldoon’s track record over the
past 12 years includes involvement in the IDEAVELOPERS Technology Fund,
iPARK Technology Business Incubator, National Technology Group, KFUPM
Technology Business Incubator, M3 New Media, Mubasher, NetAdvantage,
OneCard, XtraNet, Arab Advisors Group, Arabia Online, Arabian
Communications and Publishing Company, BYTE Middle East Magazine, and the
Arabic edition of Popular Science Magazine.
Khaldoon has worked and lived in Jordan, Egypt,
the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
He is a recognized figure across the region and an activist who proactively
promotes the development of an indigenous technology industry in the Arab
world through investment and entrepreneurial support activities.
As a writer, he has contributed a
wealth of articles to regional and international publications. As a speaker,
Khaldoon has presented at a number of international conferences including
MIT’s Alumni Club conference, the Wharton Business School conference,
Private Equity World conferences, and the Arab Strategy Forum, just to name
a few. Media appearances included Wired magazine, ZDNet, The Industry
Standard, The Herald Tribune, BBC World, CNBC, and The World Paper amongst
others.
Most recently, Khaldoon was elected
as a board member in the newly-founded Arab Private Equity and Venture
Capital Association, a pan-Arab association under the Arab Economic Unity
Council of the Arab League. Dr. Tabaza holds a Doctorate of Medicine degree
from the University
of Jordan. He is
based in Amman, Jordan.
